    Sing this guys….

    Fallen

A few words, a brief encounter,
    impressions form.
    Time passes
Cordial words turn to secret thoughts
    and secret glances,
    deepest stirrings unspoken.
    Time is made, opportunities created
    That build upon the energy.
    Spiritual synapses spark
    He is falling.

    Words soon turn and manifest
    into wordless messages through touch.
A tentative hand to face, through hair
    Electricity
    Time passes
    A fateful kiss,
    yet ill-conceived
    releases a torrent of joy,
open expression, a freedom never felt.
    Songs fill his heart
    He has fallen.

Love and friendship never known before
    overtakes rationale
    Heart and soul both overflow
    and his uncertain vows forgotten.
    Love flies so high
    but runs so deep
    it breaks in two
the two souls that it engulfs.
    Hearts fated to be broken
    He is falling

    The truth, the fate
that was always known, but pushed away
    overpowers endless dreams and wishes
    with an overbearing weight.
    A choice is made,
    but ill-conceived?
    The thoughts, the glances
    The deepest stirrings
    return to being unspoken;
    love reluctantly relinquished.
    Heart songs are silenced,
    Open expression and freedom
    return to silent, darkened places
    He has fallen

I am shocked and dismayed at the negative response given by REM and critics references to Around The Sun…. I LOVED this album. It is absolutely my favorite of the “trio” albums. I listen to it constantly. If anything, Reveal is my second least favorite, followed by Monster. Up is lyrically great, though it’s more like Stipe and a generic backing track. Around the Sun to me actually sounded more cohesive and thematic….. The fact that they made it as a such a low point is shocking to me….Anyone else out there a fan of ARound the Sun????? Leaving New York is the perfect Stipe song combining personal perspectives wrapped around a 9/11 allusion that is emotionally rich…. I was so upset at the band’s comments on this album that I wanted to find a way for the first time to contact one of them to PLEAD with them not to disparage it any further!
