REM performed 20 songs. Nervous Breakdown was performed but is not included on the Tape/CD although its on the CD Cover. "Steppin Stone" is included but taken from an unknown source. Gloria and Windout are not included on the CD. This historic concert is a must have to hear REM full throttle in their early years. This set can be found on 20th Century Boys Vol, 2.
In studying REM you can hear how they blow through this set pretty quickly, lasting only around 60 minutes or so. Also, the REM coming out of this show is not an Artsy band but rather a band celebrating Pop Songs of the 60s with the notable inclusions of such songs as Stepping Stone and Hippy Hippy Shake yet also including There She Goes Again from the seminal Velvet Underground. However you might feel about REM in the present or in their career, at this point in their short lived history from all accounts they sounded like a crowd pleaser on stage, a local favorite that attracted fans from various locations. This feeling was not shared by all though that in the hugely artistic Athens community they were not an "Art" band like other notable recording artists from this period, the B-52's and Pylon.
